Chinese Taipei tops China, Netherlands cruises past Australia in U-15 Baseball World Cup

DAVID/CHITRÉ, Panama – After falling on Day 1, Chinese Taipei (3-1) has put together three consecutive wins at the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup, while Europe’s top baseball nation, Netherlands, moved to 2-2 to open Day 4.

Chinese Taipei 10, China 0

Chinese Taipei starting pitcher Kuan-Yu Chen and reliever Yu-Min Lin combined to limit China to just two hits while striking out six in a 10-0, shutout victory.

Leadoff batter Hao-En Chen doubled twice, scored two runs and drove in one run to lead a Chinese Taipei offense that produced 12 hits.

e in the fifth inning, Chinese Taipei scored five runs highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of I Li Chan to end the game via the mercy rule.

China starter Yuze Ding yielded four runs (two earned) over two innings of work and took the loss.

Following the game, players from both sides united in an act of international friendship and photo opportunity.

Netherlands 22, Australia 7

After opening the global tournament with two losses, Netherlands has since exploded for 40 runs, including a lop-sided victory today over Oceania’s top baseball nation, Australia.

Nine of ten batters Netherlands sent to plate recorded hits including Emilson Haswell who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Australia’s James Nati took the loss walking three and allowing four runs on five hits over two innings of work while Netherlands reliever Rick Rizvić was credited with the win.

Up 4-1 heading to the fourth inning, the Netherlands scored eight runs to put the game out of reach including back-to-back doubles from Donovan Antonia and Gedionne Marlin that counted three of the runs.

Jake Burns hit a two-run homer for Australia in the bottom of the fourth.
