After suffering a loss in the opening round against Chinese Taipei, the US collected six consecutive wins, including the World Championship game against the hosts Panama

The United States beat, 7-1, the hosts Panama on 19 August 2018 at Estadio Kenny Serracin in David to win the fourth WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup. It was the first win for the US in this age bracket.

At the time the United States were the reigning world champion at the U-12 and the U-18 levels. They dominated the tournament after suffering a 2-1 loss against Chinese Taipei in the opening round. The US put together six consecutive wins, including the World Championship game.

The United States scored six in the first, capitalizing on three defensive errors. Starting pitcher Andrew Painter earned the win posting 5.1 solid innings. Luke Leto claimed the last two outs.

Painter (best starting pitcher) and Leto (best third baseman) were two of the four Americans voted onto the All-World Team. The other two were first baseman Brady House and outfielder Ryan Spikes. Cody Schrier, the USA shortstop, earned MVP honours.

USA finished third in 2016 in Iwaki, Japan, behind Cuba and the host National Team Japan, and earned a silver medal in 2014 in Sinaloa, Mexico, behind Cuba.

The WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup inaugural edition was played in Chihuahua, Mexico, in 2012.

The tournament was previously named World Youth Baseball Championship for the U-16 category. The inaugural edition was played in 1989 in Japan.
