Halpert was part of the coaching staff of USA's U-15 National Team that won the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier last year. The U.S. is baseball's defending world champion in the U-15 category.

USA Baseball announced that Jared Halpert will manage their youth National Team in the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup, to be played in Mexico from 14 to 23 August.

Halpert was part of the coaching staff for USA's youth National Team that won last year's WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup Americas Qualifier. USA Baseball's U-15 National Team coaching staff for the upcoming World Cup includes pitching coach Adam Moseley, Steve Butler and Jeff Sherman.

"We are excited to have Jared Halpert take over as manager of our U-15 National Team while the team prepares to head to Mexico for the World Cup," said Ashley Bratcher, USA Baseball’s Senior Director of Baseball Operations. "Jared and this collection of experienced coaches have long contributed to our national team programmes and now we are excited to see what they can accomplish with this team."

The first of four events that Mexico will host this year, the U-15 Baseball World Cup will see 12 nations compete for the title of world champion. Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Panama, USA and Venezuela advanced through the Americas qualifier, while hosts Mexico received a wild card. Germany and Italy advanced through the European Championship. Japan and Chinese Taipei qualified through the Asia Championship, while Guam won the Oceania Championship. South Africa gets a ticket to the World Cup as the highest-ranked team in Africa.

USA won the 2018 edition of the WBSC U-15 Baseball World Cup -- the highest level of baseball for players aged 13-15 -- defeating the hosts Panama in the final. Chinese Taipei finished third.
